Upon passing the prerequisites, students will spend two days training all the skills seen in the videos. By the end of the course, lifeguards must be able to show competency in CPR/AED, First Aid, and all the rescue skills in shallow and deep water. Every student will receive a CPR mask to effectively practice on manikins. Additional videos will be shown during class and a paper test will be administered. Students will be expected to train to the standard but meet the objective.
Candidates will earn their lifeguard certifications after passing their final scenarios and maintaining a professional attitude throughout the duration of the course. This certificate includes CPR/AED and First Aid training. Certifications are valid for two years and then must attend a one day recertification class before the date of expiration to stay current. Lifeguards will receive their certifications by email no more than 48 hours after class.
PART 1: Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence
- Swim 150 yd, goggles allowed
- Tread water for 2 min
- Swim for additional 50 yd
Part 2: Dive Weight Retrieval
- Swim 20 yd then dive 7-10 ft
- Bring up a 10lbs weight
- Swim back and exit the pool in 1 min, 40 sec
